Bueno, comenzó el calor en serio en el Hemisferio Sur. Algo me dice que nos vamos a acordar de este verano. Leemos en el británico The Telegraph:
Título: Bats falling from the sky warning as Australia bakes in heatwave
Texto: Health officials in Australia have issued an unusual warning about bats falling out of the sky at the start of their summer heatwave.
Queensland residents were told to stay away from any heat-affected bats, according to the Australian Associated Press (AAP), as the state prepared for its ‘hottest December day in 15 years’.
Queensland Health’s Dr Heidi Carroll, an expert on communicable diseases, warned members of the public against trying to help the bats.
“That’s where we can run into trouble, because sometimes flying foxes carry lyssavirus, which is a very deadly disease,” she told AAP.
“Across Queensland in the last week we’re aware of at least two incidents where bats have fallen to the ground and people have gone to help them.
“We see over 200 cases per year where people have handled bats and need to call health officials. In recent weeks we’ve seen those numbers increasing, which we expected due to the increasing temperatures.”
Heat warnings were issued in southern Queensland and northern New South Wales where temperatures topped 30C.
Earlier this year, Scottish police posted this tongue-in-cheek note about men taking their tops off in a heatwave.
