Siria: novedades

Título: Syrian govt forces roll back rebel gains in Aleppo: activists

Texto: Syrian government forces bolstered by Russian airstrikes recaptured territory overnight in the southwest suburbs of the battleground city of Aleppo, rolling back the short-lived gains of a rebel offensive.

Rebels and their extremist allies launched an assault Sunday in a bid to ease a more than two-week government siege of opposition-held districts of the city.

But government fighters have put up a fierce fightback, retaking several positions from beleaguered rebel forces, activists said Wednesday.

The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said government forces seized two hilltops and two small villages in the southwest suburbs of Aleppo late Tuesday.

"The regime is launching counter-attacks to absorb the fierce rebel offensive," said Observatory head Rami Abdel-Rahman.

"The opposition offensive has not achieved the results that were expected at this stage," he said.

An AFP journalist in east Aleppo said clashes and shelling could be heard throughout the night, followed by barrel bomb attacks and airstrikes in the early morning.

The groups waging the offensive – including fighters from Al-Qaeda's former Syria affiliate and the powerful Islamist Ahrar al-Sham – have promised to end the government encirclement of eastern parts of Aleppo.

They are seeking to capture Ramussa, a district in Aleppo's southwest suburbs, in a bid to cut off government forces and open a new route into the city for rebels.

- 'Long and gruesome battle' -

But they have struggled to hold newly-acquired territory in the face of heavy Russian airstrikes, Abdel-Rahman said.

They have managed to keep control of at least four hilltops and one small village, he added.
Longtime government ally Moscow launched an air campaign in support of President Bashar Assad's forces in September.

Wednesday's edition of Al-Watan, a newspaper close to the government, said government forces, backed by Russian airstrikes, "advanced again south and southwest of Aleppo causing major setbacks" for rebel factions.

And pro-government website Al-Masdar News said an initial rebel advance into the Ramussa district was pushed back "following a long and gruesome battle".

The Britain-based Observatory said more than 50 rebels and allied extremists had been killed since the assault began, as well as dozens of government troops.

Overnight, at least 10 civilians, including four children, were killed in rebel shelling of government-controlled districts on Aleppo's southwestern edges, the monitor said.

More than 40 civilians have been killed by shelling on government-held neighborhoods since Sunday.

The battle for Aleppo – Syria's second city – is critical for both the government in Damascus and the forces seeking to overthrow it.

It was Syria's commercial hub until 2012, when clashes left it roughly divided between government troops in the west and rebels in the east.

- 'Deeply flawed' plan -

Eastern districts came under government siege on July 17, sparking concerns for the estimated 250,000 people still living there.

Last week Russia announced the opening of "humanitarian corridors" to allow residents and surrendering fighters to flee for government-held territory.

This was met with skepticism by residents and international observers, and 35 NGOs in a statement on Tuesday called the initiative "deeply flawed".

The groups, including Save the Children and Oxfam, urged implementation of a UN call for a weekly 48-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo.

In the surrounding province, 24 people reportedly suffered breathing difficulties in Saraqeb, a town 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Aleppo, after a barrel bomb attack on Tuesday, the Observatory said.

Residents said the attack had used chlorine gas, but the monitor could not confirm this.
The incident took place close to where Russia said on Monday one of its military helicopters was shot down, killing the five people on board.

Syria's conflict has killed more than 280,000 people and drawn in world powers on both sides since it erupted in March 2011.

Half the country's population has been forced to flee their homes with an estimated five million seeking refuge in neighboring countries.

Ahora veamos los comentarios que esta noticia produjo en un analista militar de Medio Oriente (Pat Lang, del sitio web Sic Semper Tyranny):

Comentario a: Syrian govt forces roll back rebel gains in Aleppo: activists

Texto: IMO the crisis has passed from the R+6 point of view.   The rebel iihadis will soon begin to withdraw from their temporary gains having lost a lot of men (800-1000).  The external attacks having failed, the attacks from within the encirclement will also end as the word is passed of the failure of the relief force.

In the north end of the Aleppo battle, the Tiger Forces Brigade centered task force is fighting its way through the Handarat Palestinian Refugee camp with the assistance of the Palestinian militia who live there.  This was thought to be a back-up plan to provide for re-supply of West Aleppo in the event that the jihadi effort in the SW of the perimeter had succeeded.  Now that seems a danger passed the Handarat operation can be seen as part of the process of gradually shrinking the rebel jihadi held area in East Aleppo.

BTW, there are no longer many "moderate" FSA unicorns in East Aleppo and most of these are more in the nature of press liaisons for foreign Borgist media.

The YPG/SDF offensive against IS east of Aleppo is playing a major role in the fighting t Aleppo by "fixing" forces in position so that they cannot be used against R+6.

IMO an R+6 occupation of East Aleppo and the large number of casualties suffered by the rebels will set the stage for a negotiated end of the war in western Syria.

The war against IS will, IMO last for at least two or three years longer.

Título: TERRORIST ATTACK CRUSHED IN ALEPPO; CITY LIBERATED; CANTHAMA REPORTS ON THE TERRORISTS’ OFFENSIVE IN WESTERN ALEPPO AND THE FATE OF THE WAR OF AGGRESSION AGAINST SYRIA

Subtítulo: TERRORIST CAMPAIGN TO LIFT SIEGE MISERABLE FAILURE. AMERICAN AND BRITISH IDIOTS EXPOSED FOR INCOMPETENCE.  SAUDI LEADER ON DRUGS

Texto: Ba’ath Party sources now tell us that the 3rd wave of attacks by suicidal child molesting freaks in a plan called “THE GREAT BATTLE” has failed opprobriously.  It has exposed the public lying practiced by John Kerry while his team of Keystone Cops in Turkey collude with the limey MI6 trash to give the world one Waterloo after another.

On August 1, 2016, the Syrian Army General Staff sounded a general alarm after receiving very accurate reports that the rodents, principally those affiliated with the Saudi child fetishist, ‘Abdullah Al-Muhaysini, were planning a huge offensive to break the siege of Aleppo which left thousands of cannibals inside the eastern part of this great northern capital adrift and without hope of succor or supply.  Syrian Intelligence eavesdropped on hundreds of contacts from Turkey, primarily, Incirlik, Reyhanli, Adana and Gaziantep with British, American and Saudi imbeciles trying to organize the logistics for the operation.  This is most interesting because it puts the Americans squarely on the side of Alqaeda, the same group which took down the twin towers in NYC.

The general alarm concerned clear data targeting the Raamoosa Axis with a simultaneous attack on the Al-Hikma School.  The attack would start with an assault on a Syrian Army outpost at the school which would ostensibly permit the rodents to penetrate army lines up to a maximum of 20 kms.  The rodents started their assault with the usual “Sturm und Drang”, a patented, and boring use of crazed poverty-stricken retardates from Central Asia promised an eternity of bliss with the usual tarts imagined by feckless bedouins moving inexorably from one desolate corner of the Arabian desert to another.  The suicides were followed almost instantly by an explosion of a tunnel near the Sadcop Factory.  The synchronization reminded me of the Ed Sullivan Show of the 60s when great circus acts would perform miraculously on the stage to the oohs and aahs of American matrons slugging down Imperial Whiskey.  The suicide attackers were all incinerated before they could reach their destinations and the tunnel explosion was a fiasco as it managed to only kill a few rodents who reportedly had to correct some malfunction in the detonation mechanism resulting in an earlier than expected BOOM!  So sad, really.

The initial attacks were not long-lived.  As soon as the dust settled from the tunnel disaster, a big battle ensued with the SAA using an ancient technique invented by the great Canaanite/Punic general, Hannibal, at the battle of Canae where whole legions of Roman troops were suckered into a veritable pocket of annihilation almost bringing down the entire Roman state.   The SAA is very well equipped, as the rodents found out, and thousands of field artillery rockets, missiles rained down on the scurrying vermin.   My source tells me that there was an expectation of over 70 dead rodents in this battle.  But, as it turned out, hundreds were killed and injured, many screaming why the Great Satan, in whom they believe,  had abandoned them.  One of the hilarious sidelines to this story was the degradation to which the meretricious Arabian Qatari “news” outlet “Al-Jazeera” was exposed when it reported that the rodents had conquered Al-Raamoosa.  All of my readers know from our reporting that no such event could have taken place.

At Al-Raamoosa, Jaysh Al-Fath attacked on 3 lines:  Al-Manaashir, the Cardboard Factory and Al-Huwayz Hill.  They were stopped, literally, dead in their tracks by both the SAAF and RuAF flying continuous sorties and dropping all kinds of exotic bombs on the chaotic hordes trying to escape the conflagration.   The attack was carried out by Jaysh Al-Fath in combination with America’s favorite love-secret: Alqaeda (Nusra), Ahraar Al-Shaam, Kataa`ib Fath Al-Shaam, Kataa`ib Abu-‘Ammaara, all emerging from the edges of Al-‘Aamiriyya Quarter, the Sadcop Area and the environs around Al-Raamoosa.  Once the suicide truck drivers were sent straight to the fires of Hell, and the tunnel had been detonated harmlessly, a very violent battle took place with the carcasses of terrorist rodents flying in the air in a surreal chiarascourial scene with a burning backdrop of raging flames as their vehicles succumbed to the pressures of carrying too much petrol on their tanks.  The poor rodents found they could not advance anywhere.  When the SAA found there were no more targets to kill, they began to fire at buildings in the abandonded Project 1070 where many rodents hid to avoid the flames of this temporal world.

While all this hurly-burly was unfolding, another attack was taking place with Jaysh Al-Fath, Harakat Nooreddeen Al-Zangi, Faylaq Al-Shaam, Nusra/Alqaeda and some groups populated by Turkmen and Uighers, leading the charge.  This attack concentrated on the Cardboard Factory and the Manaashir Minyaan.  Once again, our field commanders, like those in West Point, studied and implemented Hannibal’s immortal tactics by withdrawing in the shape of an open circle, allowing the rodents to charge in screaming like a swarm of banshees, and then surprising them with the unfortunate truth that they were surrounded and about to be decimated.  Hundreds of rats were killed.  The SAA destroyed 16 pickups with 23mm cannons, 1 tank and 2 BMPs.  The SAAF helicopter attack gunships were extraordinarily useful here and they went through the rodent lines like a ship’s propeller.

Today, in the early hours, the rats had only managed to advance at the Al-Huwayz Hill.  But, that was meaningless from the tactical standpoint.  It affected, in no wise, the fact that the remnant rodents inside Aleppo were being exterminated.  In any case, the SAA has liberated the hill and killed 22 rodents in doing so.   The tactics of the rodents here was to play cat-and-mouse.  SAA used fixed mortar and artillery rockets to keep the rodents off-balance as militiamen deployed all over the hill picked the rodents off like ducks in a Coney Island shooting gallery.  As of my writing, the SAA has taken back Al-‘Aamiriyya and Tallat Al-Mahrooqaat  (Fuel Depot Hill).  The SAA has also just liberated Al-Saabiqiyya to the south after a major counter-offensive.

Much has been promoted by the terrorists supporters about this long-planned and obvious campaign in Aleppo. This project was planned by the very same countries promoting, funding and enabling terrorism in Syria and in most of the world. The background of obsession with terrorism is explained below.

PRELUDE AND MAIN OBJECTIVE

* The many ceasefires promoted by the US/NATO/GCC allowed the terrorists to regroup and unify in a central command and muster enough force and resources in Idlib and west Aleppo;

* Huge arms shipments to the terrorists through Turkey in the past 3-4 months, including MANPADs and very large quantities of TOWs;

* The southwestern Aleppo terrorists’ offensive in May-June that prepped the southern flank for this on-going attack; that granted momentary control of Khan Toomaan and Khalash among other villages and important sites;

* The continuing pressure on Russia by the US/NATO and the latter toward Syria, Iran and Hezbollah to ease up on bombing Idlib and southwestern Aleppo during the terrorists’ offensive back in May-June, in exchange for a negotiated solution or successful “ceasefire”;

* The terrorist-supporting countries, momentarily giving up on southern Syria and the Damascus front in order to concentrate  on the plan to take control all of northern Syria.

* The terrorists’ counter-offensive in Latakia during July to draw Syrian troops away from Aleppo.

The fact is that this was planned a long time ago; and it was a resourceful and timely-executed campaign….not just to break the siege of Aleppo, which became its slogan due to the fact the terrorists themselves were encircled a week earlier, but in fact, the terrorists and the CENTCOM  headquarters had decided to cut off Aleppo and all the northern Syrian provinces from Syria, meaning this campaign aimed to wrest Aleppo Province from Syria by cutting all the supply routes toward the city and northern Aleppo, as it was done in Idlib during 2015.

This may seem a bold statement: but, take a look at what happened on the northern border of Syria to see that much was accomplished in advancing this plan and, generally, only Aleppo City and closer towns stood in the way of this plan.

‘IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD”

In the middle of the road there was a stone
there was a stone in the middle of the road
there was a stone
in the middle of the road there was a stone.
Never should I forget this event
in the life of my fatigued retinas.
Never should I forget that in the middle of the road
there was a stone
there was a stone in the middle of the road
in the middle of the road there was a stone.

“By Carlos Drummond de Andrade”

With the dust settling, looking at the background of it from the vantage of time present, we can also see that some actions taken by the Syrian High Command and main allies in this war (Russia, Iran and Hezbollah), plus unexpected events, could explain, partially, the limited results seen so far which most likely will drive this offensive into terrible defeat for global terrorism and its main enablers: NATO, GCC, Israel and Turkey.  By way of illustration as to how the SAA engineered its successes in Aleppo:

* The swift Aleppo siege campaign in Al- Mallaah Farms and Al-Khaalidiyya, with the unanticipated results of the ‘checkmate’ in Bani Zayd and Ashrafiyya forced an humiliating and accelerated defeat that brought to a stop the murderous shelling that terrorized civilians in downtown Aleppo, besides the freeing up of thousands of soldiers to fight in other fronts.

* The Tabqa/Raqqa “controversy” campaign that brought some relief toward Khanaassir Road at last, coupled with the SDF campaign toward Manbij that shifted ISIS attention toward that direction versus Aleppo city.

* The “coup” in Turkey that disrupted the easy flow of terrorists and weapons, momentarily, created a risky situation for the terrorists in Syria when they saw a possible long-term reduction in support and attention from their former northern ally and enabler, Erdoghan.

THE ON-GOING OFFENSIVE

This is day 4 of the terrorist offensive to break the siege of Aleppo. It is safe to say that it has lost its strength as the implementation of its plan has been extremely erratic in the past day or two.

The initial results were somewhat encouraging for the terrorists and their CENTCOM masters. It mostly came in the wake of a concentrated attack within a limited front line of some 10-15 kms where the terrorists threw everything they had, VBEIDs, TOWs, armoured vehicles, individual suicide attackers, mortars, all very concentrated just to open up a route to eastern Aleppo and to relieve the remaining rodents inside the city.

There was some coordination with ISIS since the latter launched a VBEID at a check point in Khanaassir, that was destroyed before reaching its target. The plan was most likely designed to draw SAA troops toward that location.  Since that time, there has been no ISIS attack after that. The Khanaassir Road has never been closed and traffic moves normally.

The moment of greatest risk came between day 1 and 2, during phase 1 and 2, when the terrorists managed to secure the 1070 Building Project Complex while, at the same time, they moved further south to the village and hill of Al-Huwayz and the vital village of Al-Mushrifah and surrounding hills, which gave them a strong artillery firing position to shell the Al–Ramoosa artillery base and industrial complex. At this point in time,  the the terrorists were very close to their objective in creating a route and disrupting the road inside Al-Ramoosa that supplies Aleppo.

Right after that moment, the terrorists launched phase 3 which consisted of creating a diversion from Al-Sukkari Quarter inside besieged eastern Aleppo, in order to link up with the advancing terrorists from western Aleppo.

While phase 1,2 and 3 were unfolding, the Syrian forces and allies were executing their counter- offensives, mainly based on holding the ground in the Al-Raamoosa artillery base and industrial sector, while attempting to flank the terrorists from north and south, meaning taking back the 1070 apartment complex and south of it to retake Al-‘Aamiriyya, Al-‘Amaara and Al-Huwayz villages and hills. While partially successfully so far, (See Ziad’s report herein-above) the counter offensive has blunted the main thrust of the terrorist attacks, which when coupled with a relentless bombing campaign by RuAF and SAAF, both in the front lines and in the logistic supply lines toward the Turkish border, vaporized American dreams of a continuing war to destroy Syria.

The key battle now is for the village of Al–Mushrifa. Losing it will mean a complete collapse of the terrorists’ offensive and, most likely, a total terrorist retreat to either the original front lines or even losing more ground to the Syrian forces. The next day or so will decide this battle.

Too much resources and planning were invested in this offensive. The risk is very high for the terrorists and their supporters. Right now, the way it is unfolding will lead to massive failure. This failure will most likely weaken the terrorists in western and northwestern Aleppo and create a scenario replete with chaos and gnashing of teeth.  At the end, this may have being their “bridge too far” operation.

I use it in a sense describing the contemporary official, and public opinion, or espirit du temps, which has a deep and commonly shared conviction that nothing changes and even if it does the change is gradual or negligible and no significant unforeseeable variations are present or even imaginable. The above is especially true in international relations, brexit notwithstanding. A recent exchange of comments here in this blog gave me the idea to write about this serious conceptional flaw. But to really examine it we have dig a bit deeper.

They say history is like a giant stream. It goes on her own way, it is very difficult to influence it, and has some nasty surprises even for those who claim to know her. But giant streams do not pop up out of nowhere. They have a point of origin, they collect the water of many smaller rivers even subterranean creeks, and while everybody can see where they flow tracing back where they really come from is much more difficult. Same is true for history. You cannot really predict what is going to happen since many (most) factors are unmeasurable, invisible. Of course those who scientify everything might claim otherwise, but Nate Silver's magic works only with the most simple binary variable. (democrat or republican, 0 or 1).

It is very convenient to think that nothing really changes since it has not really changed in the last 70 years, not to mention the last 25. The last major quake -the collapse of the USSR- happened with no serious consequences to the western world so business is as usual ever since. The feeling, perception -call it whatever you would like to- is deeply rooted in the minds of the western-European and American elite is that the supremacy of their neoliberal culture is universal, timeless and progressive. To challenge that notion  is heresy, betrayal and treason. Every single opinion is to be tolerated to the most extreme except the one which questions the 'end of history'. Those who dare to deviate from the official, but flexibly and ambiguously put ideology are to be excommunicated, and labeled as criminals. Who dares to speak against the widespread and sophisticated homosexual propaganda is labeled homophobic meaning a hater. Those who dare to raise the issue of migration are labeled racists. This non-sense goes as far as one of my friends -who works for a giant German company as deputy chief of security tasked with securing the uninterrupted production (preparing for the unforeseeable that is)- was called in many occasions paranoid by his superiors for doing his job he is paid for!

Even though the majority digs his/her head in the sand 'facts are stubborn things' to quote John Adams. Those who care to look see the gigantic shift coming. According to Didier Sornier as the central banks' efforts will prove to be ineffective to cover the huge gap between the real and financial sector by the mid 2020's latest. The crisis which has been boiling since 1980 when the developed world spent significantly more for the first time in history than it has earned. As other similar system level crises raise their ugly heads they will come together to form a perfect storm in around ten to fifteen years.

Like their American counterpart the Borg the Eurocrats are unable to change, or even see the necessity of change. Even if Trump does not win in November 2016 the factors leading to his rise will only be intensified by the Borg Queen's rule, creating a granted victorious second coming for him or a person with similar charisma and/or personality. If this does not happen in 2020 or latest 2024 American Civil War v2.0 is almost sure to erupt. But by that time there won't be an EU either. Even if there probably wont be a Grexit, Auxit, or a Huxit the EU cannot remain the same as the recent Visegrad 4 meeting has demonstrated. The  pacifist Germans -while conveniently blaming all international fiascos they have been involved in on the Americans- wont be able to continue building their Fourth Reich in the disguise of the EU. Even though the Fourth's ideology is the complete opposite of the attempted Third Reich's yet it is still carried out with the tempo, the unforgiveness, the arrogance and the iron hand of its predecessor. On the other hand our American friends wont be able to continue to siphon off the cream of other countries' work through the globalized, but firmly american controlled financial system, and the dollar. How convenient that a regulation free international environment favors mostly, almost exclusively the monopolistic giant American multinational companies? Don't get me wrong I would not like to see a third German attempt on a forceful European unification, nor a chaotic international order with no rules and no number one player. But we are about to see a sea of change, this or that way. A change which is incomprehensible for most westerners.

With the decay of the last existing ideological heir of the French Revolution – liberalism, the other two being nationalism and communism- we are left with no ideological base. As the hypocrisy, the hollowness, and the aggression of '(neo)liberalism' becomes more and more apparent the search for a new ideology begins, or has already begun. With all values relativized, all knowledge questioned, all groundbreaking scientific findings twisted to achieve insignificant political or financial gains there is little left. These are superstition, and religion. Both of which is outside the realm of the mind, and therefore that of reason. Let me ask the rhetorical question what was before the Age of Reason?

If you start to compare the features of the late roman age, say late 4th, early 5th century AD, with the symptoms of the contemporary world you will see remarkable similarities. Slow but visible crackdown of the financial system. Gradual disappearance of (central) control over territory, business processes and beliefs. Emerging civilian disobedience for various reasons. Lack of commonly accepted values. 'Barbarians' on, and within the borders in the old and the new meaning alike (barbaros originally meant 'not one of us'). Still superior, but dwindling efficiency of the armed forces (see socii, auxiliarii, numeri, foederati). Emerging competing powers capable of achieving parity. And the list goes on.

We only can hope that the next Dark Ages will not last for hundreds of years, before a new system emerges.

Texto: In response to the US and Israel shooting down Russian jet and recently shooting down the helicopter, Russia’s long range bombers bombed the US and UK training camps for ISIS terrorists on the border with Jordan.  Prior, these camps weren’t targeted by Russia per agreement with the US. Interesting to note that the first time Russia bombed the training camps on June 16th, after that Germany and the US had hysterical fits demanding immediate ceasefire in Syria. In response to their demand, Russia’s bombers went the following day and bombed those training camps again.

Needless to say that by willfully and maliciously shooting down the Russian fighter jet, and the helicopter, the US crossed the redline. After June and July failed anti-government coups in Turkey,  Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia facilitated by the US, all the bets are off. Russia is bombing the western coalition in Syria, outright. As of the end of July all the US, and NATO suspended all the operation in Syria.

The representatives of the US Central Command in Qatar called Russian colleagues in Latakia, explaining that the facility that was bombed is a part of the American infrastructure. But a second blow was delivered some 30 minutes after this.

- Russia Won’t Commit to Avoiding Accidental Killing of U.S. Troops in Syria (http://observer.com/2016/07/russia-wont-commit-to-avoiding-accidental-killing-of-u-s-troops-in-syria/)

Maj.-Gen. Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, made their position clear: if Russian bombers did accidentally hit U.S. troops in Syria, Russia would place all blame for the casualties on the Pentagon, TASS Information Agency reported on July 23.

“The fact that anti-ISIS coalitions, deployed in Syria, find themselves under threat from Russia’s air force—the responsibility for this rests exclusively with their military leadership. For our part, we constantly—and through all available channels—call on our partners to provide information on the locations of the units of ‘moderate opposition.’” he said.

I finally found a credible video of the aftermath of Russia’s airstrikes on the US and UK base in Syria’s Idlib. The FSA-affiliated Division 13 headquarter in northwestern Syria has been almost entirely demolished as Russian fighter jets heavily ponded the base located in Maarrat al-Numan (nearly 33 km south of Idlib):

Apart from demonstrating personal example on how important, as we believe, is to build relations among various religions, it is necessary to carry out special events. To tell the truth, today Christians are subject to very serious persecutions in the Middle East and first of all in Syria and Iraq (http://www.pravdareport.com/society/stories/11-03-2016/133789-west_satanism-0/). Russia and SYRIA

Aleppo humanitarian corridors that angered the US State Depart so much has been opened and operating.

Aleppo is the key to victory in Syria. The US State department clams that humanitarian corridor from Aleppo for civilians is a “war crimes” of “displacement peaceful citizens.”

That exactly how Russia won in Chechnya, in Grozny,  over the international terrorists that the West trained and equipped. Militants are able to hide amongst civilians forever. It’s impossible to cut water and electrics, and smoke them out because of so many civilians.  Food delivering have to be continued, if civilians are there. Terrorists built millions of underground tunnels and move around with ease. That’s why Aleppo will be erased completely. After liberation, new city will be built.

Russia and Turkey

The Kremlin has announced that weapons and ammunition supplies from Turkey to the ‘rebels’ in Syria has ended.

What the Europeans don’t understand is that if the pro-Washington coup succeeded, Turkey will be already engulfed in a civil war, and the war with Kurds and with its neighbors.  It would have been broken apart, with millions more of Turkish refugees coming from Turkey to Europe.

Russia and UKRAINE

- Change of the Ambassadors of Russia and the US in Kiev indicates upcoming  change of the regime authorities (https://cont.ws/post/331097)

Russia’s previous ambassador in Ukraine, Mikhail Zurabov,  an aristocrat whose ancestral ties make a Queen of England to look like a nouveau riche,  a personal friend of Poroshenko, has been called back, and new Ambassador, with a background in the military intelligence comes to Kiev.  Zurabov desperately wanted out of Ukraine, and out of what he called “a job in the crossfire.”

Mikhail Babich is a career military officer and a politician and not a career diplomat.

This appointment was made in such a hurry and during the Russian parliament vacations. The members of Duma were made to come from their vacations and ratify his appointment, while the members of Kiev junta were having fits.

Multiple evidences are pouring in that Junta members are feathering their new nests in the US and Israel, and posting on Social media pictures of their new houses. Some might make it to safety, some might not. We will see.

Russia and the US

- America relies on war for jobs? (https://youtu.be/dmYxLcwie04)

Jul 29, 2016  President Putin asks the US Ambassador for his analysis on whether or not the Missile Defense System, being positioned on Russia’s doorstep, is in fact a threat to Russian security? His answer attempted to dispel the argument, but came out even more disturbing. According to the US Ambassador, America needs war to create jobs. Putin, amused, asks – “Why can’t you create jobs in a sphere that does’t threaten the existence of the human race?” In my previous video, which has since gone viral, Putin explains how a “defense” system is actually one element of a whole system of “offense” weaponry.

After a terrorist attack occurs in Europe, all you have to do is take a look at the market share price of companies such as Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, as Western governments scramble to bomb some hairy terrorist hiding hole. (Have they looked in the White House??)

The obvious winners of human misery are the CEO fat cats of military industrial companies.

The military-industrial complex works differently in Russia because it is not privately managed, but state run. The government does not hand out billions of [taxpayer] dollars worth of contracts to a handful of unethical parasites, and their lobbyists. This essentially removes the financial incentive from creating an ever -expanding military industrial complex in Russia.

The story of the week

Highly important and completely buried by the Western media

- Dangerous Propaganda: Network Close To NATO Military Leader Fueled Ukraine Conflict (http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/breedlove-network-sought-weapons-deliveries-for-ukraine-a-1104837.html), by Christoph Schult and Klaus Wiegrefe:

Working with dubious sourcing, a group close to NATO’s chief military commander Philip Breedlove sought to secure weapons deliveries for Ukraine, a trove of newly released emails revealed. The efforts served to intensify the conflict between the West and Russia.

Early Concern

The newly leaked emails reveal a clandestine network of Western agitators around the NATO military chief, whose presence fueled the conflict in Ukraine. Many allies found in Breedlove’s alarmist public statements about alleged large Russian troop movements cause for concern early on. Earlier this year, the general was assuring the world that US European Command was “deterring Russia now and preparing to fight and win if necessary.”

The emails document for the first time the questionable sources from whom Breedlove was getting his information. He had exaggerated Russian activities in eastern Ukraine with the overt goal of delivering weapons to Kiev.

The general and his likeminded colleagues perceived US President Barack Obama, the commander-in-chief of all American forces, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel as obstacles. Obama and Merkel were being “politically naive & counter-productive” in their calls for de-escalation, according to Phillip Karber, a central figure in Breedlove’s network who was feeding information from Ukraine to the general.

“I think POTUS sees us as a threat that must be minimized,… ie do not get me into a war????” Breedlove wrote in one email, using the acronym for the president of the United States. How could Obama be persuaded to be more “engaged” in the conflict in Ukraine — read: deliver weapons — Breedlove had asked former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Breedlove sought counsel from some very prominent people, his emails show. Among them were Wesley Clark, Breedlove’s predecessor at NATO, Victoria Nuland, the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs at the State Department, and Geoffrey Pyatt, the US ambassador to Kiev.”

Tchaikovsky 1812 overture and the American Independence Day

July 4th,  2016 – celebration of the Independence day in the United States

Performed in Russian language:  “God Save the Tsar!” which is the national anthem of the Russian Empire.

“God Save the Tsar!” (Russian: ????, ???? ?????!; transliteration: Bozhe, Tsarya khrani!) was the national anthem of the Russian Empire. The song was chosen from a competition held in 1833. The composer was violinist Alexei Lvov, and the lyrics were by the court poet Vasily Zhukovsky. It was the anthem until the Russian Revolution of 1917, after which “Worker’s Marseillaise” was adopted as the new national anthem until the overthrow of the Russian Provisional Government.

Tsar /z??r/ (Old Church Slavonic: ???? [usually written thus with a title] or ???, ?a??) or czar is a title used to designate certain European Slavic monarchs or supreme rulers, heads of state. In Russian also the word Gosudar (rusky: ????????) is being used instead of tsar. Gosudar is derived from the word “gosudarstvo” which means a state. So, gosudar means a head of state.

Vladimir Putin is Gosudar of Russia.

Título: The Larger Context Of The Jihadi Attack On Aleppo

Texto: Al-Qaeda in Syria and associated forces are currently driving a large scale attack from the south-west into Aleppo city. Their aim is to create a new corridor between the Idleb/Aleppo rural areas they occupy and the besieged al-Qaeda controlled areas in east-Aleppo. Between 5,000 and 10,000 al-Qaeda fighters are taking part in the battle. They made some initial progress against government forces but are under fierce attack from the Syrian and Russian air forces.

The Russian General Staff has warned since April that al-Qaeda in Syria (aka Jabhat al-Nusra aka Fateh al Sham) and the various attached Jihadi groups were planing a large scale attack on Aleppo. An al-Qaeda commander confirmed such long term planning in a pep-talk to his fighters before the current attack.

This shines a new light on the protracted talks Secretary of State Kerry has had for month with his Russian colleague. The U.S. tried to exempt al-Qaeda from Russian and Syrian attacks even as UN Security Council Resolutions demanded that al-Qaeda and ISIS areas be eradicated. Then the U.S. tried to make an "offer" to Russia to collectively fight al-Qaeda should Russia put its own and Syrian forces under U.S. control. We called this offer deceptive nonsense. All this, it now seems, was delaying talk to allow al-Qaeda to prepare for the now launched attack.

Another step in the delaying, though a failed one, was the re-branding of Jabhat al-Nusra as Fateh al-Sham. Some "western" media called that a split from al-Qaeda but in reality is was a merging of al-Qaeda central and Nusra/al-Qaeda in Syria under a disguising new label. Al-Qaeda's Qatari sponsors had demanded the re-branding so al-Qaeda in Syria could publicly be sold to "western" governments and their public as "moderate rebels". But the sham failed. It was too obvious a fake to be taken seriously. The "western" support for al-Qaeda will have to continue secretly and in limited form.

The current attack on Aleppo is serious. The Syrian army lacks ground forces. Significant professional ground forces from Iran were promised but never arrived. Iran was still dreaming of an accord with the U.S. and therefore holding back on its engagement in Syria. The Afghan farmer battalions Iran recruited are not an alternative for professional troops. Defending against an enemy that is using lots of suicide vehicle bombs to breach fortifications and death-seeking Jihadis to storm field positions is difficult. It demands diligent preparation excellent command and control.

If this attack can be defeated the huge losses al-Qaeda will have to take might end its open military style war. If al-Qaeda succeeds with the attack the Syrian army will need very significant additional ground forces to regain the initiative.

But no matter how that battle goes strategically the U.S. is sniffing defeat in its regime change endeavor. It is now proposing to split Syria. Syria and all its neighbors are against this. It will, in the end, not happen, but the damage Washington will create until it acknowledges that fact could be serious. Russia can and should prevent such U.S. attempts of large scale social engineering.

Russia on the other side has now to decide if it wants to escalate enough to create more than the current stalemate. Over time a stalemate becomes expansive and it may, at any time, suddenly turn into defeat. The U.S. negotiation positions so far were obviously not serious. The U.S. delayed to allow for further large attacks on the Syrian government. The alternative for Russia is to either leave Syria completely or to escalate enough to decisively defeat the Jihadis. That is not an easy decision.

Today some Jihadis shot down another Russian helicopter over Syria. The bloody body of the dead pilot was dragged through the mud by some local nuts and the video thereof proudly presented. If the Russian government needs some public pretext to go back into Syria it now has it. Also today the Islamic State threatened to attack Russia within its border. Another good reason to return to Syria in force. Of note is that Russia is already extremely pissed over the unreasonable hostile climate towards it in Washington DC. It will have consequences.

The Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei today acknowledged that the nuclear agreement with the U.S. is a failure. The U.S. did not deliver on its end. Iranian money is still blocked in U.S. controlled accounts and no international bank wants to do business with Iran because the U.S. is threatening to penalize them. The conclusion, Khamenei says, is that no deal with U.S. over any local issue in the Middle East is possible and that all negotiations with it are a waste of time. This new public position may finally free the limits the Rouhani government of Iran had put on Iranian deployments to Syria. Why bother with any self-limitation if the U.S. wont honor it?

How the situation in Syria will develop from here on depends to a large part on Turkey. Turkey is changing its foreign policy and turning towards Russia, Iran and China. But how far that turn away from the "west" will go and if it will also include a complete turnaround on Syria is not yet clear. Should Turkey really block its borders and all supplies to the Jihadis, the war on Syria could be over within a year or two. Should (secret) supplies continue, the war may continue for many more years. In both cases more allied troops and support for the Syrian government would significantly cut the time (and damage) the war will still take. That alone would be well worth additional efforts by Syria's allies.

Will Tehran and Moscow agree with that conclusion?
